Today’s increased demand on IT Departments to provide more and more applications has also generated a new problem - server sprawl. The increased number of Servers needed to run all those applications has brought increased costs and complexity to the company, including cooling, space, and the servers themselves. Since most servers only use a small percentage of the machine’s processor capabilities, VMware designed special server software to run multiple operating systems in the same physical server, or virtualize, each independent of one another.
